EQUAL Community Initiative in Ireland

EQUAL is one of four Community Initiative co-financed by the European Union 2000 - 2007.

EQUAL seeks to identify and address fundamental forms of discrimination and inequality in the labour market.

Working through Development Partnerships which operate at a geographic or sectoral basis, EQUAL seeks to inform national and European Policy and pratice, particularly as regards the National Employment Action Plan(NAPS) and the European Employment Strategy (EES).

EQUAL Round II began with the selection of 22 new EQUAL Development Partnerships in December 2004. All projects are now in the process of beginning their work in Action 1: developing their action plans and partnership agreements along with searching and selecting their transnational partners.

There are 9 Employability projects (theme A), 3 Entrepreneurship projects (theme C), 5 Adaptability projects (theme E), 1 Adaptability project (theme F), 2 Equal opportunities projects (theme G) and 2 Asylum Seekers projects (theme I)
