The Green Paper - Equality and non-discrimination in an enlarged Europe, sets out the European Commission's analysis of the progress made so far. It seeks views about how the EU can continue and reinforce non discrimination and promote equal treatment.

European Commission - Communication on EQUAL (December 2003).
Establishing the guidelines for the second round of the Community Initiative EQUAL concerning transnational co-operation to promote new means of combating all forms of discrimination and inequalities in connection with the labour market, Free movement of good ideas.

In December 2003, the Commission, published its' communication on EQUAL, the Communication is a strategic document, which provides a broad overview of the programme as it currently stand along with specific recommendations in terms of the Second Round of the Programme to be launched in 2004. The Communication also places a special emphasis on Enlargement and the impact Enlargement will have on the CIP. Mid Term Evaluation of the Equal Community Initiative Programme, (September 2003).
The Mid Term Evaluation of EQUAL, builds on the Interim Evaluation of the programme. The Evaluation reviews the current labour market situation, it also looks at the implementation of the programme along with the mainstreaming potential of EQUAL. The mid-term Evaluation also makes a number of recommendations and these are being looked at in terms of the second round of the programme. - download .pdf file 496Kb.

North South Mainstreaming Event.

In May 2002, The North South Committee held it's inaugural meeting in Carrick- on- Shannon, they event was attended by all stakeholder involved in the programme both North and South, with interesting presentations made by the Equality Authority and the Equality Commission
Presentation made by Evelyn Collings, CEO of the Equality Commission Northern Ireland.

Meeting of Irish Development Partnerships

In January 2002, This meeting was attended by DP's, Managing Authority, ESF Financial Control Unit, Commission and TSS, The project Planning and operations manual was launched at this event and a variety of presentations were made on relevant Action 1 Activity, for example, Partenrship, Transnationality, project planning, Thematic Networking... - see presentations and Evaluation of the Event.
