EQUAL Development Partnerships
A total of 22 projects were approved into Round 1 of the Equal Community Initiative in Ireland, these projetcs are spread across the various Themes as follows:

The distribution in project numbers across the themes reflects the budgetary allocations per theme. Consequently, only slightly less than 50% of projects approved into Round 1 are within Theme A under the Employability Pillar.
In the vast majority of cases the various partners within the Development Partnerships have come together as loose consortia in order to manage respective Equal projects. In only two cases have the partners decided to incorporate with a view to managing the Equal project.
In each Development Partnership there is a Designated Partner who assumes financial / administrative responsibility. The graph below shows the type of organisation assuming the role of Designated Partner across the 21 Development Partnerships. Interestingly, when the various designated partnership types are cross-tabulated with individual themes, 60% of designated partners under Theme a (Employability) are found to be Area Based Partnerships i.e. pre-existing partnership arrangements. Across all of the other pillars, no one designated partnership type dominates.
