Mainstreaming Targets for EQUAL Development Partnerships

An analysis of the mainstreaming targets for projects funded under Round 1 of Equal in Ireland show that:

• Slightly more than 20% of projects are respectively targeting the Department of Enterprise Trade and Employment and the Department of Social Community and Family Affairs;
  
  
• Slightly more than 15% of projects are respectively targeting the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform and the Department of Education and Science.

These are the most significant targets for mainstreaming amongst Government Departments.

An initial analysis of other targets for mainstreaming shows:

• almost 15% of projects targeting FAS;
  
  
• c. 12.5% targeting Area Based Partnerships;
  
  
• c. 7% respectively targeting VECs and the Equality Authority.

A range of other organisations and agencies are also targeted including CEBs, Teagasc, CERT, Local Authorities etc. Our analysis of this level of targeting is at an early stage however and requires further elaboration and refinement.
