The EQUAL Initiative: Empowerment

The principle of empowerment is central to each Development Partnership. This means that those involved in the implementation of activities also take part in the decision making. A partnership will be much more effective when all the partners participate fully in decision-making.

Experience has also shown that the involvement of those targeted for support can ensure that the activities undertaken are relevant and client centred.

The active participation of those targeted for assistance, therefore, will be positively assessed in the selection process for Action 1 and the confirmation of Action 2.
