About EQUAL

EQUAL forms part of the overall strategy to ensure that the European Social Funds reflect the policy objectives of the European Employment Strategy with the ultimate aim of developing learning for policy and practice at national and EU level.


EQUAL in Ireland
The EQUAL CIP in Ireland will run from 2001 - 2007, the total budget available for this period is Euro 33.9m.

There are two funding rounds to this programme the first round which runs from 2001 -2005 and the second round from 2005 - 2007.

21 Projects were funded in Round I of the programme which concludes Mid 2005, and 22 project have secured funding for work which will be completed by the end of December 2007.


EQUAL in Europe
EQUAL is a Community Initiative promoted by the European Commission and as such the EQUAL programme operates in all 25 member states. EQUAL complements other policies, instruments and actions in pursuing objectives in relation to the labour market and those which go beyond the labour market.

EQUAL will play a key role linking together the EU supported actions under Articles 13 and 137 of the Amsterdam Treaty, ESF supported programmes and the political objectives pursued in the framework of the European Employment Strategy.
