Equal Youth

Pillar/Theme: EQUAL Projects Employability Pillar - Theme A

Project End Date: December 2007

Project Aim: The aim of Equal Youth is to ensure that Early School Leavers (ESL) obtain and sustain employment through access to quality services that enable them secure appropriate training and educational supports.

Project Objectives:

  • To develop a model of inter-agency co-operation amongst organisations that work with Early School Leavers in both rural and urban locations;
  • To demonstrate the above model as an inter-agency Early School Leavers into Employment programme;
  • To develop and promote the use of a common profiling system amongst service providers;
  • To develop, operate and maintain a Youth Views network among early school leavers;
  • To disseminate the outcomes of the project locally, regionally and nationally in order to inform policy development in the DP parent organisations.

Target Groups:

  • Organisations providing training, education and employment services to young people.
  • Young Early School leavers in three categories:
    - In training/education;
    - Unattached;
    - In employment.

Project Actions:

  • Mapping of current education, training and employment service provision for young Early School Leavers in an urban and rural context;
  • Development of model of Inter-agency co-operation amongst organisations that provide services to Early School Leavers;
  • Development of a common language for use amongst organisations that provide services to Early School Leavers;
  • Development of common profiling system;
  • Develop and maintain an innovative data capturing methodology in order to collect the views of young Early School Leavers;
  • Piloting of the interagency model Early School Leavers into Employment programme;
  • Dissemination and mainstreaming of outcomes, policies and protocols at a local, national and European level.
